Message from the President
Welcome To Our Guild
The Northern Lights Quilters Guild provides an environment of sharing and appreciation for the art of quilting for quilters of all levels. We invite new members to join throughout the year and currently have a membership of more than 40 quilters. The meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month (with changes on holidays) - please refer to the link to the schedule for 2009 - 2010. The first monthly meeting is held at Heritage Park, 1 Tolen Drive, in downtown Fort McMurray (near Keyano College), and the second meeting is held at Suzy Q's Quilt Shop on Franklin Avenue. Please check out our sponson page for address and phone number for the store. See the Membership tab for information about yearly fees.
The meetings include activities such as mystery quilt projects, demonstrations, projects like Block of the Meeting, and most importantly social time and Show and Tell, where the inspiration begins!! We also boast course offerings and weekend retreats throughout the year, work on quilting projects for donations to different organizations/causes, and ensure celebrations throughout the year with gift exchanges and potlucks.
Continue to come back to our website for updates on our Guild activities, announcements, peruse the links on the top of the page to our advertisers, on-line shopping options, schedule of events, and the photo album of wonderful quilts and projects.
If you already enjoy being a member, check out the secure area (password required) for a look at the Trunk Shows, more Show and Tell, class pictures, AGM and meeting minutes, as well as other goodies. If you can't remember the sign-in information, please contact us for help.
Enjoy and keep quilting!!

Alberta Quilt ProjectAlberta Quilt Project
"The Western Canadian History Programme at the Royal Alberta Museum is embarking on an Alberta Craft Research Initiative to document the material culture of craft production, including stylistic and technical origins as well as the dissemination of production methods within the Alberta context. This research project will address the history of craft development in the areas of studio pottery, hand weaving and QUILTING.
The Alberta Quilt Project, a component of this research initiative, will look at
- heritage quilts; quilts made in Alberta or brought by immigrants to Alberta and,
- contemporary quilts made in Alberta over the last 25 years.
As we proceed with the Alberta Quilt Project, we hope that our research will help us tell the Alberta quilting story. We will be building on a previous quilt documentation project done in 1982 that culminated in a traveling exhibition and published catalogue. Our goal is to extend our efforts to document and photograph quilts found in regional museums as well as in private collections throughout Alberta."

Quilt Ontario 2011
Quilt Ontario 2011 - May 24 - 28
Time is certainly passing by quickly! CQA/ACC Quilt Ontario 2011 will soon be before us. We are all getting excited here in London, and are busily preparing for the show.
There is a request for the donation of fabric leaf bowls to be given out at the Gala Banquet. There will be over 400 attendees so we need your help to achieve this lofty goal. Please click on this link to download a copy of the pattern.
As well, we would be most grateful for donations of "quilty" items to fill these bowls and to give out as prizes. We are looking for things such as sewing notions, pincushions, table toppers, fat quarters, and tea cosies and other creative items.
Please send all donations by March 31, 2011 in care of:
Christine Rachar, 379 Wortley Road, London ON N6C 3S4
Thanking you for your support.
